As environmental challenges escalate globally, the Sustainability & Climate Action Programs under WIED provide an Islamic framework for meaningful ecological impact. Rooted in the principles of khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), and maslahah (public good), these programs aim to embed sustainability, climate justice, and ethical resource management into the core of the Islamic economy.

To promote and implement green initiatives across Islamic sectors—through education, policy, innovation, and partnerships—while nurturing an ecosystem of responsible economic behavior.

Green Islamic Finance & Investment

  • Develop and promote Green Sukuk, Waqf for environmental projects, and ESG-compliant portfolios
  • Support Islamic microfinance institutions adopting sustainable practices
  • Facilitate blended finance models combining zakat, waqf, and impact investing for climate solutions

Halal Green Supply Chains

  • Promote eco-friendly practices across halal food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals industries
  • Encourage traceability, ethical sourcing, and zero-waste packaging
  • Provide certification and incentives for eco-halal products

Sustainable Communities & Urban Solutions

  • Develop models for eco-mosques, smart Islamic cities, and green Islamic schools
  • Support sustainable housing projects through Islamic social finance instruments
  • Promote community engagement in water conservation, waste management, and urban farming

Climate Education & Youth Action

  • Design youth-targeted programs on Islamic environmental ethics and climate justice
